Peter Collins Memorial Unveiling

Thank you to everyone for the overwhelming response to the invitation to attend the forthcoming unveiling of the Peter Collins memorial on Monday 6th May. Due to the higher than expected numbers and in discussion with the event organisers, we have decided to deem the event fully booked and close ticket sales. The memorial will be available to view anytime after the unveiling for those who have been unable to obtain tickets to the event itself.

Arrival & Parking

Due to the increased numbers, we need to ensure that we get cars into the car parks as quickly as possible to avoid congestion on the road. There will be display parking in the paddock area and general parking in the Main car Park.

Cars eligible to park in the paddock are as follows:

• Aston Martin, Ferrari, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz - vintage and modern, there will be separate areas for each marque.
• Vintage vehicles up to 1970 - These will be parked together regardless of marque
• Any other supercars not listed above (i.e. Porsche, Lamborghini, McLaren etc) again these will be parked together regardless of marque.

If you are arriving in one of these cars you should enter the paddock directly at the Main Entrance (Gate A ) and should aim to arrive between 09.00 & 10.00

If you are arriving in any other vehicle than those listed above, you should aim to arrive between 10.00 & 11.00 and go directly to the Main Car Park (Gate C )

If you are in any doubt as to whether your car is eligible for paddock parking please go to the Main Car Park (Gate C) where you will be advised where to park. 

Food & Drink

Because of the unexpected number of attendees, lunch will be a pulled-pork bap with apple sauce and stuffing. Feel free to bring a picnic or packed lunch as an alternative. Hot drinks will be available to purchase and the bar will also be open during the event.

Donations

The increased number of attendees has resulted in much higher costs for the event organisers who are committed to keep the event free to attend and to offer a complimentary lunch. However they would be grateful if people that haven't already donated to the memorial fund would consider making a small donation of £5 per head to help with the higher event costs. Signed limited edition Peter & Louise Collins print now available

The event organiser has received one of the rare limited edition posters of Peter Collins to sell for the benefit of the memorial fund. The print (picture attached) shows Peter coming around Rascasse in his Ferrari watched by his wife Louise. The print is hand signed by German F1 driver Hans Herrmann and British F1 driver David Piper who were both racing at the Nürburgring in 1958 with Peter. The print is also hand signed by New Zealand F1 driver Howden Ganley who, like Peter, drove for the BRM team in Formula 1. In addition the print is hand signed by Peter's niece Deborah Jones and the artist, Jo Klausmann.

100 of these prints were commissioned from the original painting which was donated by Jo Klausmann to raise funds for memorials to Peter Collins at the Nürburgring and at Shelsley Walsh. The prints were given to the first 100 people donating £100 to the memorial fund. This particular print has been offered back to the memorial fund by it's recipient as a means to generate additional funds for the cause. The print measures approximately 42cm x 60cm.
